 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q.1  How do I find the various Web sites for the certifications you offer?

A.1  You can find a wealth of information by visiting the following sites:

Lanop Corporation:
http://lanop.com/

Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA):
http://www.comptia.org/certification/index.htm

Microsoft Certifications:
http://www.microsoft.com/trainingandservices/default.asp?PageID=mcp

Novell Certifications:

Cisco Certifications:

Q.2 What makes Certification Associates better than other certification programs? Why should I join your program?

A.2 Certification Associates is about you - not the public in general. Most all instructor-led training programs offer respectable classes; as an Associate of CA, we offer a program designed around what it's going to take to make you successful. We will follow you through the complete process of obtaining your certification(s) and will address all of your concerns towards that end. We will never abandon our Associates!

Q.3 I can't learn from books. I need to get my hands on something to really feel like I've learned it. What do you offer for that?

A.3 CA is a BIG believer in hands-on practice. We are open 7 days a week for your access to our labs. We offer “live” practice - not just simulation - because we all learn from our mistakes. We are not a “certification mill” and you will never be a “paper” certified professional.

Q.4 How can you advertise that you are less than what others charge for training, yet offer a superior program?

A.4 We can offer a superior program, at a significantly lower price, because CA is an independent association for the support of IT professionals. By being an independent, we don't have to pay bureaucratic fees to remain in operation. We can focus our income on more important things such as the quality of our program and what you need to be successful. This allows us to deal with the individual and not have to be concerned with "filling" a class.

Q.5 I'm just starting out. Will I feel left out of the classes? How much knowledge should I have before I begin?

A.5 Starting something new is usually a bit intimidating. Knowing the proper place to begin and doing the proper preparation is the key to feeling more comfortable. Visit a Career Counselor at CA and let him/her suggest what is the best place for you to begin. Our counselors will take into consideration several factors before you will be allowed admission as an Associate. They will not just take your money and send you to a class. The “consultation” with a Counselor is free of charge, will take approximately 30 minutes, and will resolve all of your concerns.

Q.6 What's the basis of your method of preparation?

A.6 CA has two types of “preparation”. You will receive your course materials well in advance of your class. You will be required to do some pre-study in order to gain a great deal more from your class time. After the class has been completed, you will prepare for the test. We will have you do independent lab studies to gain a feeling of competency with what you learned in class. You will also perform a few test simulations and have a review of the concepts to be tested on. You are guaranteed you will successfully pass your tests.

Q.7 How long does it take to get certified?

A.7 We do not operate on a “semester” system, and we have no “cycles” to our program. When you have completed one test, you will start immediately on the next. There is little “wait time” to consider. For this reason, those who are familiar with the material to be tested on, or can devote more time to studying, can move at a faster pace. Conversely, those who need more time to complete their studies may do so as well.
